Aladdin message - Thursday 26th August
Dear Parents,
Welcome back to all our pupils, staff, parents and grandparents! We hope you’ve all had a lovely summer and our excellent team of teachers, SNAs, secretary, caretaker, cleaners and Board of Management is excited to begin a new school year in Clonburris.
As I’m sure you’re aware, schools will be continuing with the Covid19 protocols that were in place last year. This should make everything easier for the boys and girls from Senior Infants-6th as they will only need reminders about procedures etc. Our pupils last year adapted extremely well to the changes in timetabling, teaching and learning etc. and our staff were fantastic in continuing with our usual events, albeit in a different way.
Please read the posters and documents attached below and talk through them with your child/children. Parents of our new Junior Infants will receive information via emails until they are set up with Aladdin Connect.
Thanks to Lorraine Murphy, our Parents’ Association Chairperson, who created a spreadsheet showing the entrance/exit times and routes last year, plus times of staggered breaks. Only minor items needed to be edited. The spreadsheet and map showing the exits etc. are attached below. I will send an individual message to each class level regarding entrance and exit times also, and a message to the First Communion class parents and last year’s 6th class Confirmation parents will be included.
Please make sure that you allow Aladdin Connect notifications and that you check the school website (www.clonburrisns.ie), Twitter account (@ClonburrisNS) and newsletters etc. to keep up to date with school news and daily routines. Our HSCL teacher, Ms Kerins, will help those who are having technical difficulties with Aladdin Connect. The school journals and Teddy Bear books (for infants) will be given out in classes when school begins. Please ensure these are dated each week and that your child’s name is on the page for each new week also. Further guidance on using the journals effectively will be given at a later stage.
The uniforms that were already ordered and hadn’t arrived in June will be sent to the classrooms on, or before, Monday. Thanks to the Parents’ Association who will facilitate further orders next Tuesday and Wednesday. As we did in the last term, please send in the order and exact change in an envelope with your child on either of those days.
Covid19 Protocols
Some of these are listed in the documents below. The protection of the children in our care is, as always, our priority. The views of others on mask wearing or the use of vaccines is not our concern and we need all parents/grandparents/childminders/essential workers who enter the school grounds to follow our school procedures at all times. School staff will once again be wearing masks during the day and following the guidelines agreed by the Board of Management.
Those who are exempt from wearing masks or have forgotten their mask should not enter the school grounds at collection times. A staff member will be very happy to bring your child to the gate. It is also important to wear the mask properly, covering the chin and nose fully. The journey from the gate to a class line and out again only takes a minute or two. DROP AND GO, COLLECT AND GO. Please go over these procedures with grandparents or other adults collecting children as they may not be receiving Aladdin Connect messages.
We say goodbye to Fr. Damian Farnon, who is resigning as Board of Management Chairperson, and we welcome Fr. Kieran Coughlan, the new Moderator of Clondalkin Parish, to the Board. Fr. Damian will be greatly missed. We also say goodbye to Lily Doherty, who is also resigning from the Board of Management and who was a loyal member of the Board for years. We thank her for all her service to Clonburris.
We wish your sons and daughters every success this year as we continue to follow our school motto of ‘Learn, Believe, Achieve’.
Yours sincerely,
Fiona Morley (Principal)
