About the Active School Flag
The Active School Flag (ASF) initiative is a Department of Education and Skills initiative (DES) supported by Healthy Ireland (HI) which aims to get more schools, more active, more often. It is awarded to schools that strive to achieve a physically educated and physical active school community.
ASF forms part of the National Physical Activity Plan and the Healthy Ireland vision where everyone can enjoy physical and mental and well-being to their full potential, and where well-being is valued and supported at every level of society and is everyone's responsibility.
Clonburris NS received the first Active Flag in 2019.
Mr. Murray and Ms. Morley attended three evening workshops in 2018 and 2019. Staff were shown a slideshow outlining the ASF process. The Playground Leader bibs are now in use and a large number of staff volunteered to be part of the ASF Committee. Pupils who became part of the ASF Committee received their ASF badges.
"Being Active every day, helps you work, rest and play"We were awarded our first Active Flag in November 2019! A great achievement! Congratulations to all our pupils and staff. We are currently working on achieving our renewal flag. |
