RAINBOWS
In 2010 Rainbows was introduced to our school and the first of our participants in the "Rainbow's Programme" began their lunch time group meeting. There are now seven groups running each day in Clonburris. Rainbows is a peer support group for children who have been bereaved either through death, separation, divorce or any other painful event. It provides a safe space for the children to realise that there are others just like them. The big message of the group is that what has happened is not the children's fault and they are not to feel guilty (which is often what happens). There are participants on the course from every class grouping in the school and the children are responding in a very positive manner to the programme. If any parent feels that their child might benefit from the programme, please do not hesitate to contact us. The programme is run by committed and caring teachers who give up their time voluntarily. We are not counsellors and the programme does not involve any counselling. It is purely a peer-support group but the benefits to the child have been proven over time.
