Happy Holidays Everyone!!!

Well today is officially the last day of term! It's hard to believe we haven't been at school since Confirmation Day back on the 12th March!
Congratulations to the Class of 2020. I wish you all the very best of luck in secondary school and I look forward to hearing all about it when you come back to visit us in Clonburris.
Well done to all of you for your hard work and your positivity and resilience during these very difficult times. I hope you have a well earned rest over the summer and you get to catch up with family and friends. I am very excited about seeing my family in Donegal next week as I haven't seen them since Christmas!
Don't forget to stay safe, keep active, help at home and read when you can!
See you soon
Ms. Doherty

June 2020
Hi everyone. I hope you are all keeping safe and well and enjoying the great weather we have been having. Don't forget your parents can get in touch with me at msdohertyclonburrisns@gmail.com. I would love to hear how you are getting on. I hope you are still helping out at home, getting lots of fresh air and doing a little bit of schoolwork everyday, even just a bit of reading. Try and make reading a habit and part of your daily life, even if it's just a few pages every night at bedtime. You could also listen to your favourite books being read on www.audible.co.uk. Mr. Murray has organised a Health and Wellbeing Week starting on Monday 8th and this will include a virtual sports day so keep an eye on the website for details. If you haven't already collected your books and belongings from school then please do so as soon as possible. Ring the school or email  handp1@eircom.net and your parent will be told when they can come and get your things.
Mind yourselves
Ms. Doherty

4th Class English:
Finish the Better at English book and I have sent home some more work in your bags of belongings so have a look in there if you haven't already done so! Corewords and Dictation for June are below. Download the Reading Eggs App for a 30 day free trial. There is an assessment at the start which tells you what level to start on.

2nd Class Maths:
Start working your way through the 'At Home' book I sent home with all your other books. This will be good revision of the topics we had covered. Don't worry about finishing the main textbook, we will go back to it in September. Keep revising your addition and subtraction tables. The Reading Eggs app I mentioned above also has a Maths section so try it out, it's great fun. There are a few extra revision worksheets below you can do too.

May 2020
Hi everyone. I hope you and your families are keeping safe and well. I can't believe it's now the month of May. We should be at school doing Standardised Tests!!! I'm sure none of you are too upset to be missing those! We should also be looking forward to school tours, sports day, etc. but all of that will have to wait til next year. We will enjoy all of these things even more next year. Let me say a huge well done to all of you who have stayed at home and made a big difference in helping to stop the spread of this virus. It is not easy for any of us but the reward is that we are all safe and well and if we continue to do as we're told, we should be able to meet up with our friends and families again soon :

I hope you are all still trying to do a little bit of schoolwork everyday. Remember my email is msdohertyclonburrisns@gmail.com if your parents want to get in touch and let me know you're happy and healthy, or if they want to show me some of the work you are doing, or ask me anything at all about the work. I would love to hear from you. Until then, stay safe and mind yourselves. Ms D.

April 2020
Hello parents and children
I hope you are all well and keeping safe at home. I am sure, like me, you are disappointed not to be back at school today and seeing all your friends. At least the weather is nice so we can go out for walks and cycles, staying within the 2km of our homes of course! I hope you are getting some exercise everyday and doing some reading and a little bit of writing too. Start keeping a diary or a journal of what you do everyday perhaps, it would be very interesting to read back on it in the months/years to come! I would love to hear from you and see some of the work you are doing so my email address is msdohertyclonburrisns@gmail.com if you would like to get in touch.

2nd Class Maths Group:
  • Continue with the Operation Maths book if you have access to it. Do what you can, don't worry about new topics or anything too difficult, we will catch up when we get back. Concentrate on number and tables, money and time. Keep playing the online games on www.topmarks.co.uk
  • Here are some more activities you can be working on too.https://www.twinkl.ie/resources/teaching-at-home-republic-of-ireland/first-second-class-teaching-at-home-republic-of-ireland/maths-first-second-class-teaching-at-home-republic-of-Ireland

4th Class English Group:
  • Continue with the Better at English textbook (green book, one unit per week)
  • Dictation for April, learn corewords, get someone to call out the sentences while you write them down, highlight (or underline) mistakes, write sentences with highlighted words, write them in notebook.
  • Make a Spelling Scribble and Wordsearch with April Corewords
  • Use your IT and typing skills to put corewords into sentences or send me an email with sentences :)
  • Some extra reading and writing activities are here..https://www.twinkl.ie/resources/teaching-at-home-republic-of-ireland/third-fourth-class-teaching-at-home-republic-of-ireland/english-third-fourth-class-teaching-at-home-republic-of-ireland
Learning at Home page here
(free access to online books and Twinkl there, plus further Special Ed resources)
Hi boys and girls,
I hope you are all well and staying safe. I am sure you are missing your friends (and Teachers!) in school and we are missing you too! Try and stay in touch with your friends and family through phone calls, WhatsApp, skype, or indeed write them a letter - it's lovely to get something in the post and my kids write to their grandparents in Donegal and Monaghan every week :)

In as far as possible, try and keep a daily routine if you can. In my house we do yoga or dance in the morning followed by some schoolwork. In the afternoon we go for a walk or cycle, followed by some reading or colouring and board games. After dinner, now that the evenings are longer, the kids go out and play in the garden.

Please do not get too stressed about schoolwork. I know your parents may be working all day and unable to help you so if you can do a little everyday then that's great. Don't forget to tune in to RTE2 every morning at 11 for the School Hub. You should definitely try and get some exercise and reading done everyday.

If any of my groups are looking for some work to do here are a few ideas.....
