Sports in Tallaght Stadium

On Monday, 20 children from Sixth Class attended the launch of Wellbeing Week in Tallaght Stadium. We learned that it is important to keep both our body and mind fit and healthy.

We tried out sports such as cricket, soccer and frisbee!  At the end everyone took part in a group Zumba dance. It was so much fun!

We also got to meet the Mayor of South Dublin, Paul Gogarty. He encouraged us to try lots of sports that we have never tried before. Wellbeing encourages the development of healthy thinking, eating and exercise.

Ms. Morley's 5th Class - 2016/17

Mini League final

Congratulations to Erylle who received a runners-up medal in the mini-league final!

Table Quiz, June 23rd

The last table quiz of the school year! An extra round in honour of Mr. Power and a rousing rendition of 'Amazing Grace'!

BizWorld Presentation, Thursday 22nd June

Congratulations to Dylan, Millie, Ellen, Sadhbh, Dane and Erylle who made their presentation at the Red Cow Moran Hotel in front of 40 business people and three dragons. They brought their chocolate fidget spinners with them and really impressed the judges with their preparation and quick thinking! Mr. Shannon and myself were very proud to see our Clonburris pupils looking so smart in their uniforms and making such a good impression on the dragons and Bank of Ireland representatives! Video footage to follow soon!!

Teddy Bears' Picnic

Well done to all our class who organised the Teddy Bears' Picnic for Junior Infants! They made masks, sandwiches and chocolate teddies! They gave drinks to the Junior Infant classes and then acted out the 'We're going on a Bear Hunt' story.

Going for Gold

A great trip to Corkagh Park! Thanks to Liam, Colette and Pamela for the food and help. Thanks also to Mr. Carolan, Mrs. Breen and Mr. Lawlor for supervising.

Find Your Inspiration

A great experience for 5th classes! We visited the science laboratory and the classes were able to conduct chemistry experiments (the 'weird custard' was very popular!). The planetarium was also very interesting - pupils looked at the history of life on the dome above their heads. Pizza, drinks and chocolate followed and then we returned to the lecture hall. Melissa, Nicole M., Sinéad, Seán and Natasha presented a slideshow based on lesson 4 in front of over 300 people! They were very impressive! Thanks to Ms. O'Malley for all her hard hard work, South Dublin, Leslieanne Gore and those in Maynooth University who worked on this very worthwhile project!

Thanks to Emily, Millie, Caitlin and Andrew who sang in the choir on Saturday 27th and helped celebrate with 2nd class when they received the Sacrament of the Eucharist.

BizWorld, May 2017

Avril Lambert from Bank of Ireland worked with our class. Pupils were placed in groups of 6 and came up with ideas for products or services. They chose a company name, slogan and drew posters. They did some market research with Ms. O'Brien's 3rd class. The groups were given a number of Bizbucks to spend. Each team had a number of roles, such as Managing Director, Finance Director and so on. Groups decided themselves who would take on the various roles. On Wednesday the groups pitched their ideas to the Dragons and later on to 3rd class. Thanks to Bank of Ireland for giving our class this opportunity! It was a great experience and the class impressed the Dragons!

Well done to Sadhbh and Dane who competed in the 600m finals in Morton Stadium, Santry!

Congratulations to Hailey who won an art competition based on the theme of 'Gardaí in our Community'. During the Open Day in Clondalkin Garda Station she will meet the Garda Superintendent and Frances Fitzgerald, the Táiniste! Hailey is one of 11 students from local schools whose art pieces will be displayed at the station.

Cycle Right Course

Lesson two took place in the school yard. Caoimhe and Ruth reminded pupils of the safety checks before teaching the class how to perform an emergency stop and how to turn left safely. Some pupils brought their own bikes and helmets to school. Great listening from the whole class!
More photos to follow!

Our class garden.
On each petal we have wrote words that make us us. We are learning how everybody is different and that is ok!

We did an experiment on static electricity and recorded our predictions and results in our copies.

Here is some work we completed before Christmas.

We made our very own solar system by paper machéing balloons.
We are getting ready for Halloween by making bat hats and chocolate apples with sprinkles for our Halloween party. We can't wait to eat them!

We did projects on the planets and different countries around the world. Have a look at our grand parents projects and our art work (the crooked house).

Ms. Brett's Class (2013/14)

Sports Day 2014!!

We love science!

We the start of spring, we planted seeds. We planted sunflowers, spinach, parsley and cress seeds.

We made a desert too!
First we put cactus compost in the tray. Next we put four different types of cacti in the tray. We put sand in the tray. We watered the desert when the sand was dry.

*Interesting fact*
Cacti hold lots of water. It helps them to stay alive when it gets really hot in the desert!

Our Planets Project

Picture

We are investigating the Solar System!

We are making a project on planets.

We all have a different planet to research!

Picture
  • They are due on Monday, January 27th 2014.
  • We need to present it on an A4 sheet.
  • We need to include three things in our project:

  1. Name of the planet
  2. FIVE facts about that planet
  3. Picture of the planet
