June 15th - 30th: click here for a message and activity ideas.
Hi everyone,
I hope everyone is keeping well and safe. As this is the last week of school please follow the link above for any activities you would like to do if you have free time. There are lots of activities below that you may have missed over the previous weeks and months. I would like to take this opportunity to wish all parents and students an amazing summer break and hope we get to enjoy some relative return to normality. If there is anything at all you would like to ask me or if you would like help with a specific topic please don't hesitate to contact me on my e=mail.
Once again, i would like to personally wish all parents and students a great summer break.
Keep safe and well
Mr McGovern
I hope everyone has enjoyed the good weather and is keeping well. We're into June now and this would normally be a month of revision and outdoor activities. We would of had out Sports Day and tours. I will put up some work for everyone if they're inside but the priority should be enjoying the good weather and doing as much outside as possible where allowed.
Please use this as a guide only and stay safe and well.
English
Continue with Spellbound this week and complete spelling tests at the end of the week. Children can go over different tests and activities where they have been incorrect and can work and see if now they can find the right answer or spell the word correctly.
By now most will have collected Sneak Thieves and i would like the children to complete a comprehension of their choice. All sections can be completed including the dictionary work
Please choose another audiobook from allyoucanbooks.com.
Children can write a piece of creative writing on the title of 'Space-A new planet in found!'
Children can make up their own laws, food and weather for the new planet.
I would then love to see a 'story board' of the story. If you can create five pictures and from start to finish and remember detail is key :)
Maths
Children can continue to do the Master your Maths tests this week. Children can focus on area and perimeter. Children can measure the area and perimeter of each of the rooms in the house and can see which room is biggest.
The children can then measure the perimeter of the house. Children can use each foot step as a measurement guide. Then one of the parents can try and see what the answers are like and why they may be different. The children can then think about why its important to have a measuring tool thats the same size each time.
Other areas of interest:
Children can work on ancient Rome in History this week. Children can find lots of resources and activities on Twinkl. Children can create a project about what they have found out about and how life is different now.
Children can work on the country of Portugal this week. The children can find out information about the food, culture and weather of the country. Children can add if they have ever been on holiday to Portugal and if they liked it.
I hope everyone stays safe and well and if there are any questions or work you would like me to see i would be very happy to see it. Please don't hesitate to contact me on the email address provided.
Take care
Mr McGovern
I hope everyone is keeping safe and well. There will be some fantastic weather this week and the work will revolve around outdoor activities. The children can go on a nice nature walk where possible. The children can bring a pencil and copy and notice all of the different kind of trees and plants growing at the moment. The children can notice any animals they see on their walk and do some research when they get back home.
The children can do some relay races outside and they can time themselves. The children can then use addition to count up all the seconds and minutes they ran. The children can then use their knowledge of directions and create an activity for their brother or sister to find a piece of treasure they have hidden.
Children can also do some orienteering and lots of templates can be found online.
This week I think it will be great to take advantage of the good weather and exercise as much as possible. I would love to see how everyone is enjoying the weather.
As always please feel free to contact me on the e-mail address if you have any questions or queries.
i would love to see some pictures of anyone doing something they really enjoy.

Gymnastics with 'Sport in Schools'
Making 'calm' boxes
We are making 'calm' boxes! These boxes will help us when we are worried about something. We are filling them full of our favourite things; lovely memories, photographs of our family and friends, quotes we love and lots more! The idea is to pick one thing out before you go to bed and it helps to distract from our worries and give us a great night's sleep, all ready for lots of work in school the next day!
What stuck with us this week?
After we learn something new, we write on a coloured post-it and stick it to our 'What stuck with us this week' wall. This week in Geography we learned about Leinster. We read out our post-its and we can learn from each other too.
Cake sale!
Circle time and Monday Meditation!
Seachtain na Gaeilge
Magic of Music
Catherine from Magic of Music was in our class on Monday 14th January. She was the conductor and we watched and listened carefully. We did a dance routine to 'Uptown Funk' so well it seemed like we had practised it beforehand!
Election Day!

We're all set to vote in the upcoming presidential election!
Our ballot paper is printed and our ballot box has been made.
We have invited some other classes to come and vote too.

Our project work
We are learning about Europe. The first country we are looking at is Italy. We did group projects on Italy and presented them to classes all around the school. Ciao!
Pick a synonym!
We are working really hard on our creative writing. We have a synonym wall where we pick out more interesting words for our stories.
What stuck with you this week?

We are sticking post-its of all the ideas and new information we have learned this week. We can pick another person's post-it and learn from each other!

Happy New Year! Athbhliain faoi Mhaise Duit!
We learned how to say Happy New Year in Irish! Athbhilain faoi mhaise duit! We go into our neadachaí (nests) and speak Irish to each other. Our puppets only speak Irish so we can't speak in English to them!
We have a new game called 'Chuaigh mé go dtí an siopa agus cheannaigh mé...' We have to remember lots of Irish words for our shopping list!

We did an obstacle course in P.E, practising our ball skills and our balance.
Science Experiment!
We had lots of fun doing our science experiment using a plastic bag, water and some pencils. We discovered that the plastic was so strong in the bag that it 'hugged' the pencils as they broke through and formed an air tight seal. We didn't spill a drop!
