Mr. Masterson's 5th Class
School Tour 2019 - Causey Farm
A big shout out to Junior Achievement Ireland and Johnson & Johnson for hosting us at the Science Fair in Tallaght University. The children learned about engineering, drug testing and lots of other things in a hugely enjoyable way!
Bizworld came to our fifth class and challenged us to create our own product, market it and sell it, using real world scenarios e.g. a pitch meeting. We had lots of fun and congratulations to ATL for earning the most profit!
Gravity and Air Resistance
We learned about gravity and air resistance in science this week and put our knowledge to the test to try and save Mr. Pringle!
We are learning to cycle safely on the road, using the correct signals, learning where and when to look and making sure our bikes are road worthy!
Clonburris Spring Clean
For green schools we went out to the front of the school for half an hour to pick up litter. What was scary was how much just our class was able to collect in 20 minutes of litter picking!
Flipagram and Story Boards!
We created flipagrams in art this week, but first we had to story board our ideas!
Mr McCarney did 3D shapes in maths this week!
We tried to recreate what the Celts did in Newgrange in our own classrooms!
Two engineers came to our class to talk about their work!
Seachtain na Gaeilge
Magic of Music!
We designed and created our own sleds to ensure Santa was able to deliver his presents on time!
We had many celebrities featuring in our Christmas Concert this year! Thanks to all who helped make it a success!
- Can parents please ensure the children complete the correct homework each night.
- GAA training is Monday.
- There is a lot of focus being placed on uniform this year so can you please ensure children have the correct uniform on. PE is on Tuesdays.
- If parents are worried about children getting their uniforms dirty they can send their children in with old t-shirts/jumpers that the children can put on during art (on Wednesdays). There are some t-shirts in school if the children forget.
We welcomed a local Garda to our class.
Happy 40th Birthday Clonburris!
We welcomed the fantastic Garda Band to Clonburris and they played a variety of songs to celebrate the school's 40th anniversary.
Exploring the Garden Habitat.
Last week we went out to the school garden to see what kind of small critters inhabit it. We took notes about what they were, where they were found, what they looked like etc. Some very interesting finds, some were coupled with screams!
